Description: |
|
The Geography Direction class light carriers are designed for anti-corsair duties, and system protection duties. The fighter complement is weighted towards space superiority fighters, with less than half as many heavy fighters. The class has proven itself in duty versus multiple smaller ships, but ships of this class rarely see duty in the line of battle, as their defenses will not hold versus cruiser and battleship main weapons.
However, the Geography Direction class were never intended to replace the State Colour class carriers, but instead give the Star Legion the ability to deploy smaller numbers of fighters, when the threat is less grave.
The Valley Forward is an older example of the class, with certain systems recently replaced with superior TL-15 models. It is currently serving outside the Julian Protectorate, in the Gelath sector, as part of a small squadron involved in anti-corsair, commerce protection (ACCP) duty for the Lorean Hegemony. The Gelath sector's importance is due to the trade route through to the K'Kree's Two Thousand Worlds, which is occaisonally attacked by Vargr corsairs determined to make a name for themselves, whilst taking the rich booty of the vegetarians' trade with the Lorean Hegemony. |
